A Day of Firsts!

Today Mary had 2 firsts (that's right TWO firsts).....
1. So last Friday, Ryan, Mary and I were at the Ball class with Aunt Marcy, Uncle Will and Cousin Tristan, admiring this little girl who was chewing on her little shoes (while they were still on her feet I must add). We were wondering when and if Mary and Tristan will do that.... well Folks, not even 5 days later Mary was sitting on my tummy as I was trying to do some crunches and she leaned forward and started gnawing on her shoes! Now if Mary could actually walk then I would seriously try to NOT have her chew on her toes but she doesn't walk and it is just way too cute to stop!
2. We have also learned today that Mary can not be left anywhere high unattended EVER! Mary has taught her self to roll from her back to her tummy! YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had left Mary on her back (on a mat) so that I could get some of the equipment I needed for the fitness class we were at... when I came back Mary was on her tummy! She was rolling around in circles! My friend Nicole saw the first one and said "Oh Oh now she is going to do this continuously!" and she was right all through the class Mary was rolling and rolling! It was GREAT!

So we are now both very happy but very tired from all the activity today.... Soon Daddy will be home to see the new firsts! He is working a LONG shift today and worked late last night. We have noticed that Mary knows when her Daddy's shifts are changed because she becomes very clingy to the Mom. This is the second time this has happened... I am sure that when she wakes up she will be very happy that we will be going to get her Daddy!

Well we should go and get dinner prepped! Lots of love to all!

Mary Finds Her Feet...

Mary has found her feet! It was a whole lot of fun watching her try to eat them this morning. She can't sit up on her own yet so she flops right over almost in half when she tries to get at them.

We sure love our baby. She has decided that she doesn't like being cradled, hugged or held facing whomever is holding her. Mary likes being held facing away from whomever is holding her so she can see what's going on around her.

Tomorrow we go to Los Abuelos house for brunch. Mary loves her time with her grandparents.

Wheezy Wheezy Wheezy...

Mary is a wheezer.
We don't like it at all. It's kind of scary. It only happens when we lie her down when she is awake. The doctor says it's fairly common for baby's to get a sort of reflux when they lay down and if we sit her up it should go away. It does go away most times but sometimes not. Any other more experienced parents have this problem???

Anyway, other than the distress of breathing we're just fine.

The Quest For Bouncy Toy Supremecy...

Hi,
Kate has been on the hunt for a bouncy toy for Mary for quite a while now. Well Say hello to the "Baby Einstein Musical Motion Activity Chair." Awesome!

It has all kinds of things on it for Mary to play with and it plays classical music of course. We are pretty happy about it.
Abby Liked it too. She tried to help set it up but the whole opposing thumbs thing was holding her back.

Mary is happy:

Swimming and Sledding Again...

Hey You Mary-onettes,

Mary took Kate swimming again Friday morning. Mary learned to put her face in the water and though I'm not sure she enjoyed that, it sure was fun to watch. It's great that I was able to go with them and watch and take pictures. Kate had to learn to put Mary on the side of the pool and get out of the water. It's harder than you think. I won't be able to go to too many more of the lessons because of work but at least I got to go to the first two. In fact my brother in law Will was the only other Dad their with me. HA! Super-Dads! That's Right!

Today we spent the day with Fanny, Marcy, Will and Tristan (Mary's two Aunts, her Uncle and her Cousin) hanging out at Mary's Grandparents house without the Grandparents. They were in Montreal. We had a great brunch and then we went sledding again. Is sledding a word? It is now if it wasn't prior to this blog. We went all over the front of Pablo and Marcela's house and both Kate and I tipped Mary over in the sled! She was fine, we felt terrible. Wow.

4 Month Check Up

Hi Everyone,
It's the Mom again! We had the four month checkup today and all went well. Okay it mostly went well, until the Doctor gave Mary her two immunization shots and well.... none of us liked that very much. Mary has been a bit irritable tonight, who can blame her....
Mary will be going for an ultrasound in February. This is so we can see whether or not she has Polycystic Kidney Disease. Ryan and some members of his family have this and we knew that Mary had a 50/50 chance of getting it as well. We will wait and see what happens. Hopefully Mary doesn't have the disease or if she does we hope that it remains the same as Ryan's has, with little complications!
On the bright side of it all, we have nothing to worry about with her wheezing which started yesterday and is intermittent (this is caused by either mucus or milk caught in her throat), there is nothing to worry about with her tremors either. As for her two little teeth, we can wipe (or brush hahahaha...) them if she lets us....
Best of all Mary is growing! At our first appointment with her Doctor (she was 3 days old), Mary wieghed 6lbs 12 oz, and she measured 19 1/4 inches! Today, at 2 days less than 4 Months she weighed 15 lbs 2 oz and measures 24 1/2 inches! YAY!
So our little one is growing and growing and is healthy! We are all very happy about this!

I just wanted to give an update on our Mary!
Lots of Love,

Going Sliding...

Hey Everyone,

We are off to Los Abuelos to go for Mary and her cousin Tristan's inaugural winter sledding session. Should be lots of fun. Oh and it's -15' here so it won't be a long slide around.

Hi Granny and Papa. Mary hopes you had a great trip. We love you and we'll see you soon hopefully.

Mary And Her Mom Go For A Swim...

I've shot hours and hours of video in my time as a professional camera man. Thousands of meters perhaps?. None of it gives me a feeling of pride like the video you are about to see.

So Much Has Happened...

Hey,

Mary had her first swimming lesson last Friday at the Walter Baker Sports Complex in Nepean. She had her first 2 teeth come through last Monday. She walked Today. OK maybe she didn't "walk" but with my help she slid across the floor moving left...then rrrrigght...theeeennn...leffft...etc.

We would love to post some pictures of Mary's teeth but she won't let us. We try to see them but she just sticks out her tongue and blocks the view.

Swimming was a blast. Mary, her cousin Tristan and her new friend Nathan along with Kate, Aunt Marcy and Christie all took to the pool for some splashing fun. It was so much fun to be there to take pictures and some video. The photos aren't the greatest but we got some winners.

Oh Yeah and Babys have GAS!!! WOW!!!

Here Come The Teeth...

Hey,

We think we have a tooth coming through. Mary has not been very happy lately. She's not sleeping more than 2 hours at a time and isn't at all cheery when awake. Kate finally got Mary to take her teething soother today. Wonderful.

We hope you are all well. You've all been kind to us so thanks.

Mary's Daily Episode...

Mary has a daily time of general unhappyness. It happens to be just when I get home. I've heard that it's pretty normal for a baby to get somewhat upset in the mid to late afternoon, I just wish she wouldn't. Oh well. Here are a couple of videos of our lovely daughter having a very mild go of her daily.

New Years Day...

So it's 2007. I'm at the computer and my lovely girls are on the couch. Rocky II is playing on the tv and everything is as it should be.

Very big thanks to Dave and Trish for a great time last night. We all had a great time. Racclette is a fantastic and I am still stuffed.

Next time someone offers you Icelandic booze say NO!

Click here for some pics from last night.

Oh and my lovely daughter had her 2nd ever crush last night. Mary had a bit of a crush on the ceiling fan in our room first which wasn't so bad but last night the crush was different. Last night she had a crush on a married man! Mary was making eyes and giggles at Kate's friend's husband Chris and then she would look away and get bahsful. It was very cute.

Love to all,

RKM
