A Princess, A Castle and A Plane!

On September 20th, we celebrated Mary's 2nd Birthday with all of her friends and alot of family! We had so much fun!

Mary got to wear a Princess dress again this year! Her Daddy picked it out special just for her!

Her Godmom, Shannon, brought a Bouncy castle again this year so that all the munchkins could jump to their hearts content! And that they did!

Mary was asked whether she wanted an Elmo cake, a Plane cake or if she wanted to have a Dora cake. I was sure it would be Elmo or Dora, but for a few weeks she kept with the Plane cake! Mary LOVES planes. If she can hear a plane, she wants to know where it is. She can spot them when they are tiny specs in the air...

YUMMY YUMMY CAKE!

Mary got TONS of presents and had a blast playing with all of her friends!
What a great day!

The Skunk and the Monkey!!!!!!!

We have learned a lesson in association this week. When Mary first tried on her Skunk costume, we were with her cousin Tristan, who was also trying on his costume for the first time. We were in Old Navy and the two of them chsed each other through the store hugging each other dressed up as a Skunk and a Monkey. It was very cute... Neither of them wanted to take the costumes off, even though they were super hot!

Then when they tried the costumes on again, we were going to a Halloween Party at City Hall that Mayor O'Brien, the mayor of Ottawa, was hosting. This party was okay, but it was super hot for all of us and a lot of miscommunication happened between the staff which frustrated the adults. But the kiddos got to see an alligator, some snakes, a turtle (which were all live!) and then they alsso saw Mickey Mouse, The Giant Tiger, some Pigs, goblings and many other funny looking things! We also found out that Mary and Tristan LOVE popcorn! You will see them below sharing a plate of it from another party!

The next day Tristan and Mary went to the Kids Halloween Coop party that was held in our community center. That was lots of fun. They got to decorate cookies, make magnets, enter a colouring contest, play musical chairs AND hot potato! What fun! Tristan won a costume contest and Mary won a candy counting contest... cause we need more candies here!

YAY BUO/Grampa are here.... There respective names for my Dad!
Notice the awesome Banana that the Monkey brought and if you look closely at the Skunks bum, don't get too close! You will see a little heart tattoo that says L'il Stinker! The picture below is a little better...
This was TT's alternate costume.... A Leafs fan!

And we thought that it would be the two Munchkins that were exhausted after the two Halloween parties in less than 24 hours... Nope..... It was the Tia Fanny and Poppa!

Needless to say that when we told Mary on Thursday that the next day was Halloween and that she would be wearing her costume she thought that TT (her name for Tristan) would be coming and she got very excited! Then came time for the Mary to don her costume yesterday for Daycare, she wanted to know when Tristan would be arriving! And then we got home and told her that her Grampa and Abuela would be coming with her Great Tia's, she was sure that TT would be coming too! I have heard from Marcy (TT's Mom) that TT was doing the exact same thing.... Poor things... they did not get that even though EVERY other time they wore their costumes and talked about Halloween, their cousin was there... except on the big day itself!

I do believe that they had a good time anyways though... but that will teach us parents to know better next time!!!!!!!!!

Halloween Trick Or Treating...

OK, really nobody does tricks anymore. In fact, most of the kids barely even say trick or treat now. I remember loving yelling out those great 3 words because it meant that I was going to get some great free candy! I considered being an ogre and only obliging those kids that said the magic Halloween words but they were so cute that I couldn't resist. There were a great variety of costumed characters in the neighbourhood. There was the usual Dracula's (Christopher) knights, princesses, fairys (Coco)and hobos but I didn't see any kid wearing the most creative of parent devised costume, an old white sheet with two eyes cut in. We even had a personal appearance from Hannah Montana!!!(TT)Most of the kids were really creative and fun to watch. This is E-E (Ethan).
Our little one was a skunk! Peeeyou! Here she is with her friend Bailey.Mary had a great time going house to house with her Mommy and Papa Pablo and her Abuella Marcela.
Everyone ooooh'd and awww'd over her and she smiled the whole time. It was so fun to be there and watch. Mary said trick or treat as much as her nerve would allow her and it didn't seem to matter because when she got shy the people seemed to fall right into the cutie trap even easier. I couldn't believe the amount of candy Mary came home with. Awesome... I mean uhhh... that's great, you know, for her. Ahem.
Then there was the pumpkins. Above is a little friend of Mary's named London.People really had fun last night carving some fun and scary faces. Mary loves the t.v. show Dora The Explorer so I decided to carve the scariest character from that show (not very scary at all really... he's more of a thief and prankster), Swiper the fox. It took so long that I only got a chance to carve 2 of the 3 pumpkins Kate bought so if anyone knows what to do with a post Halloween pumpkin let me know. The other pumpkin was supposed to be Winnie the Pooh but it didn't turn out the right way. Oh well.

After we were done going around the neighbourhood we went back to the house and ordered pizza and had dinner. Two of Kate's aunts, Georgina and Favie (I am sorry but I am sure I have spelled both names wrong) had dinner with us as well. In fact they handed out candy to the kids while we went around the hood.

It was great. That's all there is to it. I think next year I will cut the pumpkins up the day before.

Oh and here is a pumpkin I carved for a fundraiser at Kate's work.
