First Post In Barcelona, Spain

Hi Everyone!

We have safely made our way to Barcelona and it has been somewhat challenging but fun none the less. We bagan travelling at 7:35 (late of course - we were supposed to fly at 7:10) and had a 4 hour lay over in London Heathrow where I bought Mary a tiny Paddington Bear and myself a small 20cl bottle of Belvenie double wood. Oh YEAH! Oh and before I forget, if you are ever in Heathrow, don't ever eat at Nero Cafe! Wow! We had 2 pre-made sandwiches, a bottle of water, a tea and a hot chocolate and it rang up to a total of close to $30.00 CA!!! If this doesn't alarm you then you need a pay cut. It was more expensive to eat at the restaurant then it was to take away too! What the heck is that??? Oh well.

So then it was off to Barcelona and what aflight that was! I now know what it feels like to be a veal calf! Holy crap! Tight spot. Oh and another thing! We had agreat Air Canada experience. I know it sounds impossible but it's true. We were originally in crappy seats and the flight attendant assisted us by asking a passenger up front in the bulk head if he wouldn't mind moving and he actually moved. Nice fella.

So on the flight to London Mary puked on Kate. Lots! It was pretty gross but we handeled it like pros and surviverd to wait for another flight. The Barcelona flight apart from being steerage was not so bad. And then we were here.

Don't be alarmed if when you get to barcelona the baggage pick up is about a 3 mile hike down the airport. We were sure that we had made a wrong turn and were happy to see other passengers from our flight in the same area when we arrived. We got our bags and proceeded out of the airport into the arrivals area where we were greeted by a sign with Team Diabetes written on it. We got in the van with the sign holding fella and he proceeded to tell us all about where to go and more importantly where to not go.

So we got to the hotel and got into our room without trouble and we relaxed. For a while anyway. Then it was off to tour and shoot some footage for the 6 o'clock news in Ottawa. We didn't go far and it was incredible. We went onto the grounds of the Catalunian Art museum and shot some stuff and it is beautiful.

Then the fountains began to work (apperently they only function on Friday and Saturday nights to conserve water) and they were beautiful. The fountains (Magic Fountains of the Montjuic) run from the Catalunian Museum, down a hill and down three blocks right in front of our hotel. They go off set to music (which tonight was classical - but we have been told it sometimes rock music as well) and they are lit as well. It was absolutely incredible. It is an incredible site to see. This happens every half hour onfriday and Sat nights.

We shot tonns, while Mary and Katie followed and people watched and went ot edit it and feed it.

So anyway we're here and it is incredible. We can not wait to wake up and see tomorrow! But we are also exhausted and it is off to bed for us. We have had very little sleep over the last few days and we are done!

Till tomorrow!
Take care!
RKM
