It's that time!

Well it has been awhile since we last posted anything and there is once again lots to post about... I am tired tonight so this one will be quick but I wanted to do a quick post before I went to bed...

A while ago we had mentioned that Mary had used the potty... well, she did... once maybe twice but that was it. She was more interested in using the potty to put her toys, and her change but not to pee in... We have been talking about it alot lately and we had all decided that Santa (which is another LONG story) would bring big girl underwear and that we would work on the potty training over the holidays... Well Mary did not seem that interested in it so I kind of left it alone and offered to put her in her big girl undies every morning and most mornings she said no... like on Friday morning!

So Friday morning, Mary and I decide that we are going to go to the Museum of Science and Technology with Tio Will and TT.... I give Mary a bath, get her dressed and then I jump in the shower and we run out the door. I threw a diaper and some wipes in my purse wanting to keep the baggage light as we were rushing and we would only be about 2 hours.

So we get to the Museum, climb on the trains, play on the bikes and we are just about at the Krazy Kitchen when Mary says "Uh-Oh... mumble, mumble" and before I know it the woman beside us says 'Uh... She's peeing....." I look around to see who she is talking about and realise that Mary is peeing through her pants, into her boots and on the floor..... Hmmm.... How is that happening?????

Will asks me if Mary loosened her diaper or something as we were walking to the opposite side of the Museum to find a washroom.... remember I only have diapers and wipes.... NO extra clothing... thankfully TT has some extra clothes.... When I get Mary into the washroom to get changed and cleaned up, I pull down her pants and see the tag of her UNDERWEAR, sideways and facing me.... "ummm... Mary how did you get undies on, you little Monkey" Well this elicited a giggle from one the stalls.... (there was a Mom hiding in there I think!) The diaper that I HAD placed on Mary before my shower was found on her bedroom floor when we got home... Our Boo had taken her pants AND diaper, then placed her big girl undies on inside out, backwards AND sideways and then put her pants back on while I was in the shower and said NOT a word, until she had to go pee! WOW...

So needless to say... Mary is now in pull ups AND is using the potty and loving it all.... Slowly, one day at a time we will get closer to being toilet trained and mary will officially be a BIG GIRL..... And I have learned that I need to start carrying an extra outfit for Mary again!
These pictures have nothing to do with the above other than they are of Mary!
This is Mary and her Daddy... his favourite time... when Mary cuddles up to him and just wants to sleep... She does not like to wake up from her naps!

This is Ryan still trying to wake up Mary from her nap... on the weekends it can take us up to an hour to wake her sometimes.....

This is Mary and Josh on New Years Eve. Josh is Mary's god brother.... Mary and Josh were sharing a mini couch... we were hoping that they would go to sleep as it was 1100 but that didn't happen... well at least until 1115 for Mary....

OKay so now I AM tired and am off to bed..... All our love!

A Princess, A Castle and A Plane!

On September 20th, we celebrated Mary's 2nd Birthday with all of her friends and alot of family! We had so much fun!

Mary got to wear a Princess dress again this year! Her Daddy picked it out special just for her!

Her Godmom, Shannon, brought a Bouncy castle again this year so that all the munchkins could jump to their hearts content! And that they did!

Mary was asked whether she wanted an Elmo cake, a Plane cake or if she wanted to have a Dora cake. I was sure it would be Elmo or Dora, but for a few weeks she kept with the Plane cake! Mary LOVES planes. If she can hear a plane, she wants to know where it is. She can spot them when they are tiny specs in the air...

YUMMY YUMMY CAKE!

Mary got TONS of presents and had a blast playing with all of her friends!
What a great day!

The Skunk and the Monkey!!!!!!!

We have learned a lesson in association this week. When Mary first tried on her Skunk costume, we were with her cousin Tristan, who was also trying on his costume for the first time. We were in Old Navy and the two of them chsed each other through the store hugging each other dressed up as a Skunk and a Monkey. It was very cute... Neither of them wanted to take the costumes off, even though they were super hot!

Then when they tried the costumes on again, we were going to a Halloween Party at City Hall that Mayor O'Brien, the mayor of Ottawa, was hosting. This party was okay, but it was super hot for all of us and a lot of miscommunication happened between the staff which frustrated the adults. But the kiddos got to see an alligator, some snakes, a turtle (which were all live!) and then they alsso saw Mickey Mouse, The Giant Tiger, some Pigs, goblings and many other funny looking things! We also found out that Mary and Tristan LOVE popcorn! You will see them below sharing a plate of it from another party!

The next day Tristan and Mary went to the Kids Halloween Coop party that was held in our community center. That was lots of fun. They got to decorate cookies, make magnets, enter a colouring contest, play musical chairs AND hot potato! What fun! Tristan won a costume contest and Mary won a candy counting contest... cause we need more candies here!

YAY BUO/Grampa are here.... There respective names for my Dad!
Notice the awesome Banana that the Monkey brought and if you look closely at the Skunks bum, don't get too close! You will see a little heart tattoo that says L'il Stinker! The picture below is a little better...
This was TT's alternate costume.... A Leafs fan!

And we thought that it would be the two Munchkins that were exhausted after the two Halloween parties in less than 24 hours... Nope..... It was the Tia Fanny and Poppa!

Needless to say that when we told Mary on Thursday that the next day was Halloween and that she would be wearing her costume she thought that TT (her name for Tristan) would be coming and she got very excited! Then came time for the Mary to don her costume yesterday for Daycare, she wanted to know when Tristan would be arriving! And then we got home and told her that her Grampa and Abuela would be coming with her Great Tia's, she was sure that TT would be coming too! I have heard from Marcy (TT's Mom) that TT was doing the exact same thing.... Poor things... they did not get that even though EVERY other time they wore their costumes and talked about Halloween, their cousin was there... except on the big day itself!

I do believe that they had a good time anyways though... but that will teach us parents to know better next time!!!!!!!!!

Halloween Trick Or Treating...

OK, really nobody does tricks anymore. In fact, most of the kids barely even say trick or treat now. I remember loving yelling out those great 3 words because it meant that I was going to get some great free candy! I considered being an ogre and only obliging those kids that said the magic Halloween words but they were so cute that I couldn't resist. There were a great variety of costumed characters in the neighbourhood. There was the usual Dracula's (Christopher) knights, princesses, fairys (Coco)and hobos but I didn't see any kid wearing the most creative of parent devised costume, an old white sheet with two eyes cut in. We even had a personal appearance from Hannah Montana!!!(TT)Most of the kids were really creative and fun to watch. This is E-E (Ethan).
Our little one was a skunk! Peeeyou! Here she is with her friend Bailey.Mary had a great time going house to house with her Mommy and Papa Pablo and her Abuella Marcela.
Everyone ooooh'd and awww'd over her and she smiled the whole time. It was so fun to be there and watch. Mary said trick or treat as much as her nerve would allow her and it didn't seem to matter because when she got shy the people seemed to fall right into the cutie trap even easier. I couldn't believe the amount of candy Mary came home with. Awesome... I mean uhhh... that's great, you know, for her. Ahem.
Then there was the pumpkins. Above is a little friend of Mary's named London.People really had fun last night carving some fun and scary faces. Mary loves the t.v. show Dora The Explorer so I decided to carve the scariest character from that show (not very scary at all really... he's more of a thief and prankster), Swiper the fox. It took so long that I only got a chance to carve 2 of the 3 pumpkins Kate bought so if anyone knows what to do with a post Halloween pumpkin let me know. The other pumpkin was supposed to be Winnie the Pooh but it didn't turn out the right way. Oh well.

After we were done going around the neighbourhood we went back to the house and ordered pizza and had dinner. Two of Kate's aunts, Georgina and Favie (I am sorry but I am sure I have spelled both names wrong) had dinner with us as well. In fact they handed out candy to the kids while we went around the hood.

It was great. That's all there is to it. I think next year I will cut the pumpkins up the day before.

Oh and here is a pumpkin I carved for a fundraiser at Kate's work.

Mary loves her salad!

Mary loves salad... As you can see from the pictures below... she sometimes will not eat it on her plate with her fork or spoon but leave it on the table and well.... it gets eaten! Check out the spoon!
Okay so she gets a little messy sometimes!
Yummy!
Even with a HUGE sppon, she still gets her fingers dirty! Gotta lick the fingers clean!
